
What Are Vaccinations?
Vaccinations are shots that help strengthen a patient’s immune system to fight off infectious diseases. They are recommended for all patients. Laura E. Babe, MD, PLC follows the most current vaccination schedule recommended by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). We offer vaccines for a variety of diseases, including chickenpox, hepatitis A and B, influenza (flu), HPV (human papillomavirus), shingles, tetanus, and COVID-19 (by appointment for current patients).
Influenza vaccines for fall 2025 are now available. Patients of the practice can schedule an appointment for a flu shot, with standard and high-dose options available. Limited quantities of the COVID-19 vaccine are available in the office this fall, by appointment only for current patients.

Vaccines work by exposing your immune system to a disease in a safe fashion, allowing the immune system to recognize these components and develop antibodies to fight them. If your body is then exposed to that disease again, it can respond faster, and avoid or minimize illness. The vaccines offered at Laura E. Babe, MD, PLC have all been thoroughly tested and are safe for preventing or reducing the risk of disease.
